Downriver's biggest first-run pair in downtown Wyandotte: the 1,500-seat Art Deco Main opened in 1938 and the 800-seat Annex in 1942. Adult films, a stalled arts-center plan and the wrecking ball followed.

Make time for these
The 1,500-seat Art Deco Wyandotte Main opened in August 1938, and an 800-seat Annex built next door opened on January 1, 1942, with Ronald Colman in My Life With Caroline. Hyde & Williams designed it. Together they were the biggest first-run cinemas Downriver, run by Detroit's Associated Theaters from about 1950. In September 1977 the house turned to adult films. Nearly $2 million went into converting it into the Trillium Performing Arts Center before fundraising collapsed around 2002; it then sat boarded up, used only for a 2004 haunted house, before it was torn down.

A 9-screen, 1,171-seat first-run cinema on 23 Mile Road in Macomb Township, built inside a former Kroger. Every seat is a reserved leather recliner, the biggest room is an EMX with Dolby Atmos, and there's a full bar in the lobby.
