In Kalamazoo, Western Michigan University's Department of Theatre doesn't just teach: it puts a full public season on stage in the Shaw, Williams and York theatres of the Gilmore Theatre Complex. The department is known for conservatory-style training in music theatre and acting. The 2026–27 season brings Birthday Candles, Kinky Boots, The Three Musketeers, Hilary Bettis's 72 Miles to Go, Cabaret and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Kinky Boots runs October 30 to November 15, 2026, including an ASL-interpreted matinee. A Ragtime concert and the Next Stop Broadway showcase with Gregory Jbara round out the year.
