Wayne County Lightfest

A five-mile drive-through light show along Hines Drive with nearly 50 animated holiday displays. A Metro Detroit winter ritual since 1993.

01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Lightfest was born in 1993, when Wayne County's parks were facing deep budget cuts and someone had the bright idea of lighting up Hines Drive. Every winter since, the show has wound five miles through Hines Park along the Rouge, with nearly 50 animated themed displays and more than 100,000 lights. You roll through slowly in your own car with the heat cranked. Want to see it car-free? Bike Through the Lights and the Lightfest Run/Walk happen right before opening night.
