Make time for these
Every summer the Wayne County Family Aquatic Center opens its gates in Chandler Park on Detroit's east side. The main draw is the 'Way Cool, Wave Pool,' more than 15,000 square feet with 9-foot wave patterns, backed up by two 23-foot slides: a 203-foot body slide and a 161-foot tube slide. Little ones get Splish Splash Land, with more than 100 spray fountains in shallow water. The park holds 2,023 guests, is smoke- and alcohol-free, and runs 30-minute swim lessons for kids 3 and up during the season.
