Make time for these
Tuskegee Airmen themselves founded this museum, led by members of the Detroit Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., the first chapter in the nation. With help from Mayor Coleman A. Young, it opened at Historic Fort Wayne in 1987; today the main site is at Coleman A. Young International Airport, home to its flight academy, youth programs and War Birds including a Stearman, a T-6 and a BT-13. A separate Tuskegee Airmen exhibit sits inside the Charles H. Wright Museum in Midtown.
