03 / The story of this place

What’s it like to stay here?

The Wurlitzer music company opened its 14-story building on Broadway in December 1926, to a design by Robert Finn. It emptied out in 1982 and sat abandoned for decades until New York design firm ASH NYC restored it, and the hotel soft-opened in March 2018. The 106 rooms mix retro-modern furniture with vintage pieces and big downtown views. Downstairs are the velvet-curtained Candy Bar, the wine bar Bar Chenin and Sid's Gold Request Room, a piano karaoke bar, so a great night out doesn't even need the street. The People Mover's Broadway station is across the street, and Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Fox Theatre are all walkable.
