The Department is the event venue inside Hudson's Detroit, on the site of the old J.L. Hudson Company department store. It spreads 56,000 square feet over three floors and handles anything from a six-person dinner to a 2,000-guest gala. Second-floor halls open up or split with drop-down walls and concert-level sound, and five covered balconies with heated floors work year-round. The freight elevator fits an SUV for auto reveals, and rooms carry names from Hudson's history.
