What’s it like to stay here?
The brick Italianate house on Winder Street went up in 1870 for eye doctor John Terry and was soon bought by Lyman Cochrane, a state senator and judge. Sisters Roderica and Francina James bought it in 2012, restored it and opened the inn in 2018; it's one of the few B&Bs in the region owned and run by Black women. The owners live on site and serve a hot breakfast every morning, and some rooms have steam showers or freestanding tubs. The house also hosts private events such as Lions game-day lounges, and Ford Field, Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena are a short walk away.
