01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Opened in May 2023, the Southwest Greenway runs just over half a mile from Bagley Street to Jefferson Avenue, following the old course of May Creek and a former rail line. It's the easy, car-free way to get from Michigan Central, Corktown and Mexicantown down to Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park and the Riverwalk. Under the Rosa Parks and Lafayette overpasses, The Yard Graffiti Museum keeps the spot's underground art history alive, and kids get a zip line and climbing logs. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy spent five years piecing together 12 parcels to build it.
