01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Somerset Collection started with a stand-alone Saks Fifth Avenue on Big Beaver Road in 1967 and grew into one of metro Detroit's big addresses for high-end shopping. It's two buildings: Somerset South and Somerset North, which opened in 1996 with Michigan's first Nordstrom, linked by a 700-foot enclosed Skywalk with moving walkways. More than 180 retailers fill the place, from the four department stores to Dior, Saint Laurent, Versace and Hermès, and the concierge can line up free personal styling or home delivery.
