What’s it like to stay here?
Shanty Creek spreads more than 260 places to stay (rooms, condos and homes) across three villages: Summit, Cedar River and Schuss Mountain. It started on May 30, 1963, when Detroit auto-industry magnate Roy Deskin opened The Lodge at Shanty Creek, a 91-room hotel; the Kingdom of Schuss ski area next door opened in 1967 and jokingly declared itself its own nation. ClubCorp merged the two in 1985 and added Arnold Palmer's The Legend course. Today you get five championship golf courses, including Tom Weiskopf's Cedar River, 42 ski runs and 28 km of Nordic trails, and your dog can stay with you on the lower level of the Lakeview Hotel. In spring 2026 a Michigan investment group, Shanty Creek Ski and Golf Resort, LLC, took over.

Getting there
