Sahara dates to 1981 and calls itself a family-style Mediterranean restaurant with roots that trace back to Telkaif in the modern-day Middle East. The Detroit location sits on West Columbia Street in District Detroit and pairs dinner with hands-on entertainment. It also handles private parties and catering. The family runs two more restaurants, in Sterling Heights, which has a grand ballroom, and in Oak Park.
