01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Polish immigrant Joseph Kalenkiewicz opened the Polish Art Center in 1958, and Raymond and Joan Bittner have run it as a family business since buying it in 1973. It's a deep dive into Polish culture: folk art and carvings, amber jewelry, stoneware, wycinanki paper cuts, pisanki eggs and supplies, Christmas ornaments, plus candies, dried mushrooms and preserves. In 2004 they expanded next door with an education space for lectures, book signings, folk-art demos and egg-decorating classes.
