Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens is a cemetery on West Twelve Mile Road in Novi, west of Detroit. Its best-known resident is Hal Newhouser, the hard-throwing left-hander who won back-to-back American League MVP awards for the Detroit Tigers in 1944 and 1945, becoming the only pitcher besides Carl Hubbell to accomplish that feat. Newhouser pitched for the Tigers for most of his career and was later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. He died in 1998 and was buried in the cemetery's Masonic Garden section. The cemetery continues to operate today as an active burial ground.
