Make time for these
The Northland Theater opened on November 17, 1966, with Hitchcock's Torn Curtain, at the Northland Center mall. Ted Rogvoy designed it with a distinctive curving, upturned roof, and it seated nearly 1,500. By the late 1960s it was a 70mm roadshow house, with a year-long run of Funny Girl, and it fought hard with the nearby Americana for the big reserved-seat releases. It was twinned in 1976, and AMC bought it in 1986 but closed it about three years later amid falling attendance and violence around the mall. The building later housed the Millenium Theater, a South Asian film and live-entertainment venue.
