01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Noir Leather opened in November 1983 in downtown Royal Oak, where its window displays were famous for decades, before moving to 9 Mile in Ferndale near SOHO and Affirmations. It sells leather, corsetry, kink gear and clubwear, and hosts in-store Noir @ Nite events. It isn't LGBTQ-owned, but it publicly pledges support for the LGBTQ+ community and remains a long-standing staple of the local leather and kink scene. Since 2021 it has been veteran- and Black-owned.
