01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy reopened Mt. Elliott Park in 2014 along the east Riverwalk. Its star is the Gilbert Family Schooner, a Great Lakes ship-themed splash pad with water cascades and kid-controlled water cannons, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Everything was designed to be universally accessible, the pavilion has public restrooms and a summer cafe, and the views stretch across the Detroit River to Belle Isle.
