Make time for these
The cemetery, consecrated in 1841, holds the resting places of many of the city's earliest French, Irish, Polish, and German settler families. The cemetery itself is kept up by its own association, but the guided walks are run separately, by the nonprofit Preservation Detroit, going back to around 2012. Tours are ticketed and tend to sell out quickly, including in the 2026 season.

Detroit Riverwalk
Detroit Riverfront Conservancy volunteers lead a free, roughly one-hour history walk every Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Wilson Park meeting point, telling the story of the riverfront's development; Sundays bring a separate one-hour fitness walk called We Walk Detroit.
