MJR Southgate Cinema is a first-run multiplex on Trenton Road in Southgate, Downriver. It opened on November 6, 1998 as the 4,977-seat Southgate Cinema 20 and has long been one of the busiest cinemas in Michigan. One auditorium became RP1, a console-gaming and entertainment lounge with 11-foot screens. The theatre has an IMAX auditorium with laser projection, a Laser Ultra room, VIP seats and a Studio Bar & Lounge. Every feature showtime offers closed captioning and descriptive audio unless noted.

Tickets are $5 on Tuesdays, with surcharges for VIP seats, Laser Ultra, IMAX and 3D. After 6 p.m., kids 6 and under can't attend PG-13 features (family films excepted), and never R-rated ones. Questions go to (734) 284-3456.

Age policy
Children under 2 free if held on a lap. Children 6 and under not admitted to PG-13 features after 6 p.m. (family-film exceptions) and never to R-rated features; under-17s need a parent or guardian aged 21+ for R-rated features.
