Besides its exhibits, the Michigan Science Center in Midtown's Cultural Center runs three screens. The star is the Immersive Dome Theater, refitted with 239 custom seats donated by Magna under a giant dome screen; the museum calls it the largest theatre in Michigan. It shows giant-screen nature and science films plus laser shows. The Penske Planetarium has 8K digital projection and 5.1 sound, and the Toyota Engineering Theater projects in HD 3D. On September 26, 2026 the dome was closed for maintenance, with Back from the Brink and a KPop Demon Hunters laser show listed as coming soon, while the planetarium and engineering theater kept daily Tuesday-through-Sunday shows.
