Luna ran for 19 years, roughly from 2000 to January 2019, and was a perennial winner of Metro Times 'Best of Detroit' dance-club polls. It was known for $2 'you-call-it' drinks, the Luna Dancers and a mix of Top 40 and offbeat electronic and rock music; Metro Times once compared it to 'a little suburban City Club'. It announced its sudden closure on Facebook on January 3, 2019, with no reason given.
