Photographer Chelcea Stowers founded Lesbian Social Detroit in 2017, and the series has since drawn more than 10,000 attendees. In a city with no permanent lesbian bar, it fills the gap with pop-ups once or twice a month at rotating downtown venues, including a residency at the I|O Rooftop Lounge in Corktown's Godfrey Hotel. Its biggest date is the annual 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' Pride block party, which draws 800+ women and reached its sixth edition in June 2026. Yoga sessions and daytime socials are part of the mix too.
