Lahser High School opened in Bloomfield Hills in 1967 as one of two public high schools in the affluent Oakland County district, the other being Andover. Actress Jacqueline Kim, later known for her stage and film work, graduated from Lahser in 1988. Facing declining enrollment across the district, Bloomfield Hills Schools decided in 2010 to merge Lahser and Andover into a single Bloomfield Hills High School, and the merger took effect in fall 2013. The combined school was housed temporarily in the old Lahser building while Andover's campus underwent a fifty-nine million dollar rebuild, then moved permanently to the renovated Andover site in 2015. The original Lahser building didn't sit empty for long: after its own renovation and expansion, it reopened in fall 2023 as North Hills Middle School, still educating Bloomfield Hills kids under a different name.
