01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Jo Griffin opened Jo's Gallery in 1996, and the second generation now runs this Avenue of Fashion favorite. The walls hold originals, framed art, prints, sculpture and jewelry, with a deep focus on African American art and history from artists like Annie Lee and Frank Morrison, plus African imports and local talent. The in-house framing shop offers free consultations, 300-plus frame styles, canvas stretching and conservation glass. It's a great stop for a meaningful Detroit gift.
