03 / The story of this place

What’s it like to stay here?

It started in 1902 as a three-story home for island blacksmith Robert Benjamin, and Samuel Poole turned it into the Iroquois on the Beach hotel in 1904. The McIntire family ran it from 1954, and Jon Cotton of Grosse Pointe bought it in 2020; today it's part of the Cotton Collection with Harbour View Inn, Hotel Perry and Bay View Inn. Every room is decorated differently, breakfast is included, and The Carriage House on the water does brunch and dinner in season. It's open seasonally: May 7 to October 24 in 2026.
