What’s it like to stay here?
It opened in 1966 as a Howard Johnson Motor Lodge and spent years as a Holiday Inn Express. Glenmont Capital bought it in 2018, spent two years and $10 million turning it into a Hotel Indigo, and reopened it in August 2020. Detroit's Kraemer Design Group tuned it to Motown and the building's mid-century roots: headboards and sconces echo sound waves, the corridors borrow from recording-studio baffles, and a lit wall behind the front desk maps the city's music venues. Look for local art by Sydney G. James and Chad Davis. On a business trip? There's about 1,700 square feet of meeting space.
