01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Hot Sam's opened in 1921 as Hot Sam's Quality Clothing, Sam Freedman's shop on Brush Street, and it bills itself as the longest-standing haberdashery in downtown Detroit. Tony Stovall and Cliff G. Green started there as salesmen in 1974 and bought the store in 1994, a real Detroit success story. Since 2004 it has been on Monroe Street in the One Campus Martius building. Come for suits, sport coats, hats and accessories, an in-house tailor, and wedding and special-occasion styling.
