01 / The story of this place

Make time for these

Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch opened Hockeytown Cafe on October 14, 1999, as a tribute to the team, at Woodward and Montcalm where a men's clothing store had stood since 1911. Three floors hold more than 30 TVs, vintage motorcycles mounted on the walls and Red Wings and Tigers memorabilia everywhere. It can host groups of 500 inside and up to 1,000 with the patio, with a rooftop and a Red Wings-themed Celebration Room for private parties. Sound Space Detroit and Mic Drop Comedy share the building.
