Heaven was an after-hours gay club upstairs from The Gas Station bar at 19106 Woodward Avenue, just north of 7 Mile. In the 1980s its crowd was largely gay men of color, and the club became legendary as one of the places where Detroit's queer house-music scene was born. Its closing year is not recorded, but its legacy lives on: the Club Heaven sound system is now preserved by the Detroit Sound Conservancy.
