Make time for these
One Sunday afternoon every spring, Greektown goes blue and white for one of Detroit's biggest heritage parades. Greeks celebrate March 25 as the start of the 1821 War of Independence and the Feast of the Annunciation; in Detroit the parade is organized by the Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade Committee, founded in 2001, and the local tradition reaches back to at least 1929. Expect Evzones in traditional uniform, folk dancers, musicians, church and student groups, police honor guards and mascots from Detroit's sports teams. Crowds come from across Metro Detroit, Ohio and Canada, and organizers call it one of the largest Greek parades in the U.S. The 24th annual parade marched on May 3, 2026.
