Established in 1926, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is Michigan's largest community theatre and one of the oldest and largest in the United States; 2026-27 is its centennial season. It performs in the Meijer Majestic Theatre on Division Avenue, part of an 80,000-square-foot complex of four historic buildings: the Majestic Theatre (1903), the Hull Building (1890), the Botsford Building (1892) and the Wenham Building (1878). A renovation of more than $10 million, led by Grand Action with Fred and Lena Meijer as lead donors, wrapped up in 2006, when the stage was renamed the Meijer Majestic. It puts on a dozen productions a year, and its School of Theatre Arts teaches classes for ages 2 to adult. The centennial season runs from Come From Away and Annie to Dear Evan Hansen and Les Miserables, with Annie playing November 20 to December 20.
