What’s it like to stay here?
The Pontchartrain opened on July 24, 1965, the 264th anniversary of Detroit's founding, on the site of Cadillac's Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit. Architects King & Lewis gave every room angled bay windows looking toward the river and Canada. 'The Pontch' went through a long list of owners and flags, including Radisson, Crowne Plaza and Sheraton, closed after a 2009 foreclosure, and reopened in 2013 as a fully renovated Crowne Plaza; it's been a Wyndham since July 2021. Today it has 367 rooms, a heated indoor pool with hot tub and sauna, and about 32,000 square feet of event space, including the 10,455-square-foot Grand Terrace Ballroom. Urban Cellars pours Michigan craft beer downstairs, and if you're here for a convention, Huntington Place is next door.
