This small family burial ground beside the former St. Martha's Episcopal Church sits on land once farmed by Samuel Ford, Henry Ford's great-uncle. Clara Ford paid to have St. Martha's built in memory of her mother, and the church was dedicated in 1954. Henry Ford died on April 7, 1947, and Clara died on September 29, 1950; both are buried here under an ornate cast-iron cage called a mortsafe, a Victorian-era device meant to deter grave robbers. Only around sixty graves lie in the cemetery, nearly all of them Ford family members. St. Martha's Church itself closed years ago and has fallen into disrepair, but the small churchyard around the Fords' graves is kept in neat condition.
