The building opened in 1925 and was known for many years as the State Theatre before becoming The Fillmore Detroit. Historic auditorium decoration and the immediacy of a modern live show shape its character. Beside the Fox Theatre, it offers another example of Detroit’s former movie theaters finding new life as performance venues.
