Dan Cooke left a career in venture capital and big law to start Expedition Detroit in 2022, betting that metro Detroit's outdoors deserve a much bigger spotlight. The company leads guided trips in 11 Michigan state parks, from Belle Isle and Maybury to Proud Lake, Waterloo and Highland, with routes for first-timers and seasoned hikers. You can join foraging hikes, wildlife night hikes, backpacking on the Potawatomi Trail, winter snowshoe outings, or a Trails & Ales hike that ends at a local brewery. Cooke was named to the Michigan Wildlife Council in 2024.
