The Eaton Theatre opened in downtown Charlotte on January 7, 1931, designed by R.V. Day, with Eddie Cantor in Whoopee! and 750 seats. It closed briefly in 1960 and was reopened by Beechler Theatres, then later twinned and modernized. It has kept its large square marquee and vertical sign, shows first-run films and hosts events like Rocky Horror nights with a live shadow cast. Donations help keep it going, and regular tickets are $8. The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadow cast plays October 16-17, 2026.
