Make time for these
The Dunes Resort opened in 1981 as the Douglas Dunes motel and bar on 20 acres between Saugatuck and Douglas. Today it is one of the largest LGBTQ+ resorts in the country, with about 80 motel rooms, cottages and suites plus a nightclub and main bar, a cabaret, an outdoor deck and a pool bar. Themed weekends fill the season — White Party, Christmas in July, Bear and Pride weekends and a big Halloween party — and it hosts Mr. Michigan Leather Weekend in late September. In summer the famous Sunday Tea Dance on The Deck draws big crowds, and 2026 marked the resort’s 45th season.
