Detroit Secret Garden at the Moross House
A hidden ivy-walled garden and art gallery at Detroit's oldest brick house on East Jefferson, rented for dinners, showers and shoots.

01 / The story of this place
Make time for these
Brickmaker Christopher Moross built the Moross House around 1840, and it's the oldest brick dwelling left in Detroit, on the National Register since 1972. Since 2016 it has housed Schinkel Fine Art, the showroom of artists Linda and Teddy Schinkel. Out back is the Detroit Secret Garden: a brick-walled, ivy-covered courtyard with what's called the oldest wisteria in the Midwest, a lit trellis and a long wooden table. It's rented for dinners, birthdays, showers, rehearsal dinners, receptions and photo shoots.
