What was here?
This hotel stood right at the airport, attached to the James M. Davey Terminal of 1966, the former Northwest and Republic Airlines hub. It opened as a Host Hotel and was later rebranded as a Marriott. Passengers stopped using the Davey Terminal in 2002 when Northwest moved to the new McNamara Terminal; demolition of the terminal and the Marriott began in October 2005 and wrapped up by early 2006 to make room for the North Terminal. The demolition contractor reported removing 522,000 square feet of buildings. Don't mix it up with today's Detroit Metro Airport Marriott on Flynn Drive, which is a different hotel.
