Detroit Mercy Theatre Company is the University of Detroit Mercy's award-winning troupe of students, faculty, staff and professional guest artists, now in its 56th season. After more than a decade performing off campus, it moved back to McNichols when the Detroit Mercy Black Box Theatre, the school's first dedicated theatre space, cut the ribbon on September 29, 2025, on the lower level of the renovated Student Union. The roughly $2 million room opened with Twelfth Night. The 2026–27 season brings Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice from November 6, 2026, the Detroit premiere of Born With Teeth from January 29, 2027 and the StarKid musical The Trail to Oregon! from April 9, 2027.
