Make time for these
Artist Olayami Dabls has been building this place near Grand River and West Grand Boulevard since 1994, filling the yard and galleries with installations made from African beads, mirrors, and reclaimed materials. You can walk it on your own, but the guided storytelling tour adds the history behind each piece. School groups and larger parties can book their own program by arrangement.

How to book and where to meet
Book through the tour page on the website or call ahead; visits start at the Bead Gallery. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., though the outdoor installations can be seen any time.

Motown Museum
Motown Museum's guided tours are paused starting January 20, 2026 for a major expansion, with reopening planned for spring 2027; in the meantime part of the campus stays open, and a separate exhibit runs next door at the Esther Gordy Edwards Centre for Excellence. When running, the tour lasted about an hour, with box-office ticketing on site.
