Built in 1866, the Croswell Opera House is the oldest theater in Michigan and one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the United States, and it celebrates its 160th anniversary in 2026. The main house, the Julia Argyros Theater, seats about 640 on two levels in the original building. The nonprofit Croswell Opera House and Fine Arts Association produces professional-caliber musicals with community casts, drawing audiences from southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio, and runs youth education programs. Fall 2026 brings The Hunchback of Notre Dame (October 16-25) and Disney's Frozen (November 20-December 6), and Farver's bar hosts live music and improv nights.
