Corktown is among Detroit’s oldest surviving neighborhoods, with a name linked to immigration from Ireland’s County Cork. Homes, places to eat, and Michigan Avenue businesses give it a human scale. Michigan Central’s restoration has brought renewed attention, but the neighborhood’s history extends beyond the station. Its quieter side streets and commercial corridor offer different sides of the experience.
