Cobalt was a gay dance club in Ferndale, created around 1999 by remodeling the former Doug's Body Shop restaurant on Woodward Avenue. It was part of a late-1990s wave that many expected to make Ferndale a gay nightlife hub. It closed within a few years, before 2004, amid police scrutiny, and the space later became a straight club called Posh.
