The Detroit Free Press counted Checker Bar among Detroit's Thursday karaoke nights in 2024, and back in 2019 the Pop + Offworld pizza-and-arcade space in the same building ran Thursday karaoke too. A basement fire closed the bar in January 2025, and it reopened on March 4, 2026, after 14 months. Whether karaoke came back with it, we haven't been able to confirm yet.
