The Capri sits on US-12, the old Detroit-Chicago road, just west of downtown Coldwater. John Sr. and Mary Magocs built and opened it in summer 1964; Cinema Treasures records opening night as August 21, 1964 and says the same family has run it ever since. It became a twin in 1986, the lot holds about 900 cars, and on summer nights the line sometimes stretches half a mile. In season it runs double features Thursday through Sunday, with the sound broadcast on FM. On September 24-27, 2026, Screen 1 paired Beetlejuice (1988) with Buddy (2026), and Screen 2 paired Resident Evil (2026) with Insidious: Out of the Further.
