Make time for these
Callahan's opened in 2007 and in just over a decade hosted more than 1,500 shows in an intimate room where fans could stand within arm's length of the stage and meet the musicians between sets. Mainly a blues and rock club, it presented Tommy Castro, Johnny Winter, Sonny Landreth and Samantha Fish and was home to the Detroit Blues Society's annual Blues Challenge, whose winners went on to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis; the Detroit band The Rockets re-formed there (first billed as the Helldrivers), and Billy Strings also played the room. After a farewell run it held its final show on March 31, 2018.
