Make time for these
George Bohm opened his new theatre on Superior Street on Christmas Day 1929, designed by Christian W. Brandt, with 1,138 seats and a Barton organ for silent films, a grand house for its time. It opened and closed several times over the decades, stopped running as a three-screen cinema in November 2008 and reverted to the county in 2010. The nonprofit Friends of the Bohm Theatre bought it in 2011, restored it and reopened it as a single-screen theatre in autumn 2014, winning a Governor's Award for Historic Preservation in May 2015. The 38-seat Bohm II opened next door in 2016, and the lineup mixes weekend new releases, Terror Tuesday horror nights, Blues at the Bohm concerts and family film series. October Tuesdays belong to horror, from Heretic on October 6, 2026 to Psycho on October 27, and Vanessa Collier plays Blues at the Bohm on October 12.
