Make time for these
Black and Brown Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2016 to celebrate the voices of people of color onstage, backstage and beyond. Its artistic director is playwright and educator Emilio Rodriguez. The signature project is the Our Voices Festival of New Plays: students write and direct short plays about their own lives, and professional actors perform them. Shows pop up in schools and community venues in Northwest Detroit and Hamtramck, Planet Ant Theatre among them. The company has no permanent stage of its own, so it goes where its audience is.
