Make time for these
Annunciation is the cathedral of Detroit's Greek Orthodox community, and its parish story runs back to a 1910 state charter and a first church on Macomb Street. When the city bought the old parish land for a freeway in 1964, the congregation got half a block on Lafayette and built today's cathedral in phases between 1966 and 1993. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew led a service here in 2000, and the Pantokrator icon in the dome was finished in 2005. The renovated 707 East banquet hall on site hosts weddings and galas.
